You Are Not Behind

I wore yesterday like a second skin,
until I forgot where I began.

Time did not wait
so I let go…

and felt something new
take my shape.

You rise each morning with yesterday still whispering inside your bones.

I see it.

How you cradle what has already died.
As if it might wake again if you suffer long enough.

You breathe in expired moments and call it “memory”,
but it is closer to devotion.

Tell me, wandering one, how do you expect to step forward
when your soul is rooted in something that
no longer exists?

You are trying to grow in something that has already turned to ash.

Time does not look back with you.
It does not kneel where you kneel.
It flows, merciful in its refusal to repeat itself.

Yet you linger in its discarded skins,
tracing the shape of who you were.

Listen, the past is not a place you can return to.
It is a shadow cast by a light that has already moved.

And you have mistaken the shadow for something solid,
so you reach for it, and let it stain your hands…
But still… it gives you nothing new.

You ask why you feel stuck.

But you are not stuck.

You are circling a ghost, and calling it a path.

Even now your life is unfolding, just beyond the weight of your remembering.

There is a version of you unfolding like dawn.
But you keep pulling the night back over your eyes.

Insisting it has more to show you.

It doesn’t.

It already gave you everything it was meant to give.

Why return to the blade after it has already cut you?

Release is not betrayal.
Letting go does not erase what was sacred.
It simply means you have finished carrying it.

Even I, who has watched centuries collapse into dust…
Do not gather what has ended and ask it to begin again.

Not because I cannot…
but because nothing that truly belongs to you
requires your imprisonment to remain meaningful.

So loosen your hold… not all at once.

Just enough to feel your hands again.

You are not meant to live where echoes live.

You are meant to become something they cannot follow.
